What a month for Charlotte the Starlet. She's been sleeping seven hours a night- WHOO HOO! Unfortunately the seven hours ends at 5am, but we'll take what we can get... Charlotte can now hold her head up pretty well and can stand on her feet for a short time if you hold her hands. She's become a lot more vocal, cooing and giggling, causing everyone around her to act like idiots in order to get her to laugh. Another new development is the steady stream of drool. It's almost as if she's sprung a leak somewhere and is trying to plug it up by shoving all her fingers into her mouth. We've also witnessed Charlotte perform various feats of strength on her playmat. Normally the Starlet lies on her back looking up at the toys, arms and legs jerking spasmodically. A couple weeks ago she managed to open that tight little fist and grab Mr. Pineapple's leg (as evidenced in slide show photos). And, to commemorate Jesus rising from the dead on Easter Sunday, Charlotte ROLLED OVER from her tummy to her back. Hurrah!
In other news... the Starlet has a new friend named Caroline who is about a year older and so far is not that interested in her (I guess a steady stream of drool is just not considered "cool" anymore), but eventually she hopes to make an impression. We walk downtown to the local coffee shop together every morning and Mommy slurps down a latte while Charlotte waits patiently, knowing her own caffeine jolt is just around the corner.
This month we had a fun visit from Grandma and Grandpa Kurzeka, and this weekend we're taking our first road trip to see Aunt Julie and Uncle Johnny. Charlotte has never slept away from home before- let's hope this isn't the last time we're ever invited to the other Burns bungalow.
With 3 months of life experience under her belt Charlotte is definitely a happier camper; the colicky crying fits are growing fewer and farther between. When Ms. Hyde does make an appearance generally 2 hits of baby ecstasy (the homeopathic non-trance inducing sort) and a gripe water chaser seem to work like a charm. So that's our news for now... tune in again next month to hear all about the Starlet's cross country trip to San Francisco!

Jerrod, Thanks so much for the picture and blog info. It makes me even more anxious to see baby Charlotte in person. I am looking forward to seeing you and the two ladies of your life in July. My family (Barton and the kids) have already adopted her nickname I gave her and we are all sporting our I Love Charlotte buttons. See you in July...Take care and I love ya..oh and happy belated birthday...
Oh gosh, Emily, Charlotte is so beautiful! Thanks for the blog.
